3 Iran short films to screen in US film fest

A Lineup of three Iranian short films has been picked to attend the Utah Arts Festival- Fear No Film 2019 in the US.

Mohammad Tourian’s ‘Flying Fishes’ and ‘Birthday Night’ by Omid Shams will be screening at the Narrative Shorts section of the film festival.

‘Flying Fishes’ is about a teacher who is new to a village. He notices that the only girl in his class does not talk and has cigarette burn on her skin.

The 20-minute flick ‘Birthday Night’ narrates the story of two friends and business partners, Ahmad and Ali, who face unexpected challenges on their birthday night.

This one has so far attended a big number of international film festivals and has been able to take home multiple awards including the Special Jury Award at the 2019 Wegiel Film Festival in Poland.

 ‘The Sea Swells’ directed by Amir Qolami is the third title to attend the Midnight Shorts section of the film event.

The film which runs for 16 minutes is the surreal story of an old man who lives in a floating cottage on the sea. His occupation is to make coffins for the battlefield deads.

The latest edition of Utah Arts Festival- Fear No Film is slated for June 20-23, 2019.
